January  highlighted species is the Green Iguana (Iguana iguana). The Green Iguana is not originally from Puerto Rico, but it has adapted very well to the lush Caribbean habitat.Green iguanas (Iguana iguana) are the island’s largest lizards. Green iguanas can reach over 6 feet in length and weigh 14 pounds or more. These lizards are herbivorous and largely arboreal, meaning they are very able tree climbers. Younger specimens may consume insects in addition to fruit, leaves and flowers.
