There are also two computer applications that can make your life a lot easier while administrating a Photography Site. If you are using one of these newer cameras that result in 5 Meg or more photos you will need to make those pictures a lot smaller for the internet. You could get something like Corel to do this, but I find that a small program called RIOT; by Lucian Sabo can do the task just as good and it’s free to download from the internet. In a matter of seconds it will re-size your image and optimize the file size. You will be able to control compression, number of colors, metadata settings and much more, and select image format (JPG, GIF or PNG) for your output file. Works wonders on getting your photos just right for the internet. Another free application that might benefit you is the Advanced Renamer. Advanced Renamer is a free program for renaming multiple files and folders at once. With this application you can rename your photographs by a numeric sequence, for example wildatpalmas 001. And as you add more images you can start the sequence where you left off.
A lot of having a great nature photography gallery happens in the background. Photos just don’t jump into your gallery overnight at least not by themselves. In my case I have a six step process.
Once you consider that you may take 300+ pictures on any given day you can start seeing that this is quite a task. But the final product is what we are after and after all is said and done we can sit back and enjoy photography as it was meant to be enjoyed in a nice comfortable sofa, a Kendal Jackson bottle of wine and friends.
